Trump Assistant Defends Former President
After the guilty verdict, Sebastian Gorka, Trump’s former deputy assistant, appeared on a TV show to defend the former president. Gorka called it ‘a dark day for the rule of law in America.’
He argued that if authorities can prosecute someone as famous as Trump, they can do it to any American. Gorka claimed the trial was unfair and politically motivated by those wanting to steal an election.
Host Presses Gorka on Details of the Crime
The TV host pressed Gorka to specify what exact crime Trump was convicted of. After some back-and-forth, she explained:
- With Trump’s approval, his lawyer paid $130,000 to an adult film star
- The payment was to keep her quiet about an alleged sexual encounter
- Trump then approved a fraudulent scheme to hide reimbursing his lawyer
- This violated election laws and amounted to election fraud
Heated Argument Over Trial Fairness
Gorka insisted the hush money payment was simply a legal non-disclosure agreement. But the host countered that the crime was fraudulently hiding the true nature of the payment.
The two argued whether the judge and prosecution acted properly during the trial. Gorka claimed highly unethical conduct, while the host maintained the case was thoroughly litigated.
Looking Ahead to the 2024 Election
Despite the guilty verdict, Gorka expressed confidence that the real verdict will be on November 5th, the 2024 election date. He believes the American public will render its judgment then.
The divisive case has raised questions about the justice system’s fairness and its potential political implications in the run-up to the next presidential race.
